Please pass this along to your friends and family.
If you do not enroll in a health insurance plan on the Exchange by Monday, December 23rd, you will be unable to obtain coverage that begins on January 1st. After Monday, you will have until January 15th to purchase coverage that begins on February 1st, and you will have until March 15th for coverage that begins on April 1st. After March 31st, the open enrollment period ends, and most people will be unable apply for coverage until the enrollment period re-opens on November 15th, 2014. Exceptions to that limitation include those who experience a significant income change (loss of job, for example) or a change in family size (such as having a child).
March 31st is also the deadline to enroll in a health insurance plan without being subjected to a financial penalty ($95 or 1% of your income, whichever is greater). You will be penalized if you do not purchase health insurance by March 31st. The penalty does not apply to those who are below 100% of the federal poverty level or those who do not have affordable plans available to them. I urge all of you who have not yet signed up for coverage to join the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have already enrolled in a plan on the Exchange.
Don’t wait until March 31st; apply before midnight on Monday so that you and your family will be covered throughout 2014.
